Busy Pups

It’s a busy week in the kennel with little more than a week before collection.

Crates for flight travel have been assembled with the help of grandchildren (who were quicker than me, surprise, surprise). and they have been parked in the kennel so the pups are familiar.

Given the puppies enormous growth rate we collected more of the new food and more cardboard chippings for the kennel floor (🤣🐾🤣both inextricably linked) and made a first trip out in the car on a vet visit for health tests, microchipping and vaccinations. Once back, rather like children, pups became very excited, exploring the kennel as if for the first time.

Another nail clipping follows tomorrow, then visits from HPR friends (with their critical eyes 😅)who show and trial GSPs and GWP’s and finally with the improving weather pups will have playouts in the garden.

"S" Litter - Eat Play Love

Rain doesnt stop play in our puppy pen and the puppies have certainly been doing that with all their adoring visitors. Working up an appetite through busy lives, each puppy has gained more than a kilo over the last week and they are very happily settled into a lovely routine.

Kennel Visitors

Reckon our puppy socialising hit a high spot today when we nailed the birthday tea party entertainment for 7 year old granddaughter Ella and her sisters. Grandchildren & puppies…… divine😁🐾🐾👩‍👩‍👧‍👧

"S" Litter at 4 weeks old

Weaning, developing, growing, playing the ” S” Litter are watched over by half sister Mavis, from the same dam, Ch Aytee Katerina, in 2023. It is incredible to think what 2 years will do!

Big thankyou to Lisa Cornell in the USA for allowing us to breed this litter from Ch Edelmarke Second Coming.

A New Challenge

Working pigeon traps has been a focus for our training since arriving in New Zealand. At the moment HPR Natural Game trials are only run in North Island and field trialling in South Island, where we live, is done on pigeons in traps. Here is our first video giving an outline of what you might expect if, for whatever reason, you decide to have a go working with pigeon traps.

Picking up South Island style

Not far away roads were closed with snow but we had a fabulous first day picking up with Mavis today alongside the beautiful Southern Alps. Swimming the river in full flood to make a retrieve way up the bank and amazing me with her retrieves on pricked cockbirds 😀 exciting times.

Happy Birthday "J" Litter

12 years ago today our Phenomenal “J” Litter arrived. 4 of the litter were to qualified for Open Field Trials, 2 became Field Trial Champions, one in Ireland and one in the UK as well as being placed 3rd and twice 1st in the KC HPR Championships in 2017/2018 & 2019. 2 won UK Open Trials and 2nd’s but didnt make that FtCh. It feels like it could have been a litter record?

Happy Birthday to the whole litter including Hari Lampart’s, Myrtle, Lee Minhinnick’s Bob, Darryl Elliot’s Lewis and our own adorable Jerzi, 😍 laying by the fire tonight, the easiest GSP I will ever own.

The Best Day

It’s a beautiful morning and bank holiday weekend for the Kings birthday here in New Zealand and today, 31st May, the first day of the North Canterbury Upland Game Shooting Season. With just 7 days a season allowed for pheasant shooting in our area,(1 bird a day) it’s important to get out and train for those trials! Job Done - Mavis filled the bag 😁completing her first HPR in NZ 😊 👌🐾👏🐾
